Crown Jewel Club has a wide range of volunteer opportunities. Whether you would like to be a hands-on helper in the classroom, or someone behind the scenes, we have many opportunities from which to choose. No matter how much time you can give, you’ll find an opportunity that’s right for you.

PROGRAM VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Classroom Coordinator

  • DESCRIPTION: The main functions of this position are to support the Teacher and oversee all aspects of each class.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 4-6 hours per week for each seven week session.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills, project management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work well with others.

In-Class Volunteer

  • DESCRIPTION: The main function of this position is support the Teacher and Classroom Coordinator during the class session. The in-class volunteer will interact with  students during the class as well as help create an atmosphere conducive to learning, assist with classroom set-up and clean-up. Also be available to assist with the “Afternoon Tea” event.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 3.5 hours per week. Classes are conducted one day a week, for seven weeks, from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.
  • DESIRED COMPETENCIES: The selected candidate will be warm and compassionate, understand the value of good manners, and be willing to help students realize their own self-worth and potential.

Outside-of-Class Volunteers

Materials
  • DESCRIPTION: The main function of this position is to support the Teacher and Classroom Coordinator in preparing for the class session. Possible duties may include gathering magazines and catalogs for Mining for Gems, cutting out pictures for Mining for Gems, assembling  Mining for Gems notebook, editing “Dreams for Goals” power point presentations, making name tags and place cards, creating invitations to the class,  assembling Treasure boxes, etc.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: Approx. 3 hours per week. Classes are conducted one day a week from 1:00pm to 3:30pm. Materials must be prepared prior to each  class.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Able to meet deadlines.
School Coordinator
  • DESCRIPTION: The main function of this position is to make sure that all deadlines are met prior to, during, and after the program. Possible duties may include sending out a time line of events, corresponding with the Executive Director, Teacher, and Classroom Coordinator to ensure all materials are prepared for each class and afternoon tea.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: Approx. 2 hours per week. The duties of this position may be completed solely by email and/or phone.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Project management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work well with others.

Tea Volunteers

Set Up
  • DESCRIPTION: The main function of this position is to set up the classroom for the afternoon tea. Possible duties include covering tables with tea linens, laying out tea place settings, crown pins, guest books, and other materials.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: Approx. 3 hours once per seven week session.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Ability to meet deadlines and follow manual instructions.
Servers
  • DESCRIPTION: The main function of this position is to  secure and serve  all snack and tea items during the event. Duties may include making sandwiches, buying scones, making and serving tea and water.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: Approx. 5 hours  once per seven week class session. Food preparation make take place outside of the tea event. Service at the tea will require approximately 3 hours.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Project management skills, ability to meet deadlines and work well with others.
Clean-up
  • DESCRIPTION: The main function of this position is to clean up after the afternoon tea. Duties may include washing tea china, silverware, and stemware as well as laundering table linens. Delivery of dishes and linens back to the classroom must be coordinated with the Classroom Coordinator after the event.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: Approx. 4 hours once per seven week class session.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Ability to meet deadlines and work well with others.

Gorgeous Gems Volunteers

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may teach lessons, assist in the classroom, or work behind the scenes in coordinating service projects and other activities.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 3-6 hours per week.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Project management skills, ability to work well with preteens and teenagers.

DEVELOPMENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Grant Researcher

  • DESCRIPTION: The main function of this position is to research possible grants for which Crown Jewel Club would be eligible.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 3-6 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Project management skills, internet research, organization skills.

Grant Writer

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers will fill out the preliminary grant forms and applications. Experience grant writers may write grants through completion.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 3-6 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Writing skills, ability to meet deadlines.

Development Administrative Assistant

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may assist with fund drive mailings, fundraising campaigns, and donor database maintenance.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 3 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills.

MARKETING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Website

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may assist with website maintenance duties that may include technical work and/or content management and creation.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 3 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills, project management skills.

P.R.

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may assist with public relations duties which may include writing press releases, securing media coverage of special events, and increasing the awareness of the organization.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 2-4 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills, project management skills.

General Marketing Volunteers

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may assist with various marketing projects, social media platforms, and special events.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 2-4 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills, project management skills.

ADMINISTRATIVE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Database

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may assist with updating contact information in the master database.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 2-4 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills, project management skills.

General

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may assist with various administrative projects including data collection and entry, filing, copying/printing, mailings, and other tasks as needed.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 3-5 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills, project management skills, Microsoft Office and Excel.

SPECIAL EVENTS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Special Events

  • DESCRIPTION: Volunteers may assist with planning and execution of special events throughout the year including, but not limited to the annual Jewels & Jesters fundraiser, End of the Year Parties, Volunteer Events, and other fundraising activities.
  • TIME REQUIREMENTS: 2-4 hours per week as needed.
  • EXPECTATIONS & REQUIRED SKILLS: Organization skills, project management skills, ability to work well with others, ability to meet deadlines.
